Absolutely an incredible read. You find yourself laughing, crying, and cheering and laughing, and crying, and cheering. The characters draw you into their story from the start and you will not put the book down until the characters have "lived" their stories. Definitely a must read.
Living with No Regrets - As a voracious reader, who manages to read several books per month, getting to partake of Living with No Regrets was a delight. Annetra Wagner Piper's masterful depiction of family life, trauma, tragedy and drama show prolific insight into our inner selves. Each character mirrors "a thing" I believe we have faced, overcome, or endured. In light of all that New Orleans represents, her use if it as a backdrop sets the tone for the mysteries within each of her characters. Like the city, she shows a muggy, sweltering, hidden side and uncovers the jewels, rhythm, and treasures that are the hallmark of both the city and her characters. The use of food, a common denominator for all of us, is simply brilliant. I am amazed of the totality of this novel and her insight to include what anyone can relate to-food and family. I LOVE THE CHAPTER TITLES depicting some sort of "kitchen or cooking" matter-"Crying over spilled milk; Apples don't fall far from the tree; Tough nut to crack; and, a Bun in the oven. Having said that, the book is worth the recipes alone! How she got what I assume to be her mother (Ernestine Wagner) to give up those recipes is priceless. KUDOS "for sharing" authentic southern recipes like, Salmon croquette, Beignets, Jambalaya, and my favorite those Lemon bars. I had long wanted a good lemon bar recipe, YUM. Made them and they are "off the chain good!" Can't wait to experiment with the others, priceless I cannot imagine getting them in any modern cookbook, nor from anyone of our era. Ms. Piper writes in a very traditional manner with a new and distinct twist that is uniquely her own. She takes you through her novel with the ease of what I can only imagine is a conversation with a good friend. The book is collectable quality, but the novel in my opinion is a piece of English literature that will withstand the test of time. "It would be a shame for this one to be overlooked on the best sellers list!" Oprah, Gail--Book Club!!!!! Finally in deciding where to put my copy, I decided to prominently display mine in my kitchen with my favorite recipe books. To date, it is always a conversation piece.

Annetra Wagner Piper has done it again! Her sophomore book "Living With No Regrets" was excellent like her first book "When You Think of Me". If you read her first book there is a surprise in her new book about Charles and Caroline. From the very beginning of "Living With No Regrets" you are drawn into the storyline when Cherrelle is jilted minutes before walking to the alter. The detailed plot makes you feel like you know Cherrelle and how she feels. Every woman can empathize with her plight. You will not be able to put the book down once you start... except maybe to prepare one of the delicious dishes included by reference whenever the family is dining. Sorry girlfriends, I cannot pass this book along. The recipes are an added value, easy to make, and just downright tasty!
